Run an agent

In this guide, you add one agent version to a project, run it, and review the result.

Before you start

Confirm that:

  • the project contains the correct files;
  • you know which agent version you will use;
  • the selected model provider is approved for the data; and
  • you can check the expected result.

1. Add the agent

Open the project and add one fixed agent version. Check its provider, tools, limits, and work folder before you continue.

2. Allow the input

Allow only the files that the task needs. A file name or stored reference does not give the agent access to the file.

3. Start a work chat

State the result, allowed changes, forbidden changes, checks, and output format.

The model provider receives the prompt and allowed input in plaintext.

4. Watch the work

Check:

  • files read and changed;
  • tools and commands used;
  • denied actions;
  • model usage;
  • errors; and
  • final status.

Do not treat every denial as a defect. GaugeDesk denies actions that are outside the limits of the run.

5. Review the changes

Open Changes and compare the result with the starting files. Check:

  • correctness;
  • unwanted changes;
  • unsupported claims;
  • private data;
  • generated credentials;
  • destructive actions; and
  • required tests.

Do not keep work only because the agent says it is complete.

6. Keep or discard

Select Keep only after the work passes review. Otherwise, select Discard or ask for a corrected run.

Keeping work in your project does not send it to another person or system.

7. Release the result, if needed

If the result must leave your project, use the release review. Confirm the recipient, purpose, files, and required approvals.

You are done when the accepted files are in the project and no unreviewed change remains.

See Review work from an agent for the release checklist.
