Manage GaugeDesk¶
GaugeDesk Administration lets an authorized administrator manage one personal or organization account. It appears only when the signed-in person has administrator access.
General customer rollout is not established.
Common tasks¶
| Area | What you can do |
|---|---|
| People | Invite people, change roles, and remove access |
| Sign-in | Configure OIDC or SAML |
| Provisioning | Configure SCIM and group mapping |
| Policy | Reduce the access that a role or project can use |
| Machines | Review registered and managed computers |
| Backups | Review backup and recovery settings |
| Deployments | Manage technical deployments |
| Billing | Review subscriptions, use, and invoices |
| Software | Review versions and updates |
| Audit | Filter and export account activity |
Make an administrative change¶
- Select the correct account.
- Open the applicable area.
- Review current values and your administrator access.
- Select Edit.
- Make the smallest required change.
- Open Changes and review it.
- Submit or approve it as required.
- Confirm the new value and audit event.
The service checks your access again when you submit the change. Seeing an area or editing a displayed document does not grant permission.
Roles and project access¶
An account role supplies a default set of administrative permissions. It does not give access to every project or file. Project permissions, agent ownership, content approvals, and website visitors are separate.
Policy¶
Account policy can reduce access. It cannot make the product or host enforce a stronger protection than it supports.
Examples:
- block export for viewers;
- require a region for a data class;
- require a verified host for specified data; or
- require SSO and an identity-provider MFA result.
GaugeDesk denies an action when policies conflict.
Current limits¶
- Administration, OIDC, SAML, SCIM, and role controls are built, but general customer rollout is not established.
- GaugeWright is founder-operated. Independent approval and separation of duties are not available.
- The hosted control plane has no uptime SLA.
Next: Set up SSO and SCIM.
